With Soldat 1.5.0 released, there has been a rather large influx of bug reports; all sorts of things that were never mentioned once during the year-long Public Beta. I am working diligently to get most of them fixed for Soldat 1.5.1.

So while I wait for Soldat 1.5 to be packed, I have been working on some updates to PHP-Commander. For those of you who don’t know what that is: it’s the browser based Control Panel I use for game server hosting. Read full article for more information on that. I’m not going to give anymore estimates regarding release date for 1.5, lesson learnt. Back to good old:

“When its ready.”

In other unrelated news, its my birthday in 2 days. April 18th ^_^. Turning 20. Cant wait. Send me an email on the day if you wish :)

The Official Dedicated Server software for Soldat 1.5.0 is now ready for download. Server owners should prepare to upgrade to this version, and read the changelog carefully.

A fairly major change that is not listed in the changelog, is that we have modified the way the Net code threading works. There is now an option in server.ini to enable or disable multi-threading UDP packets. By default, threading is disabled (0). We hope this will reduce the number of “eats” and other lag related annoyances. This might not be the case for some systems, if you find server performance is degraded compared to previous versions, change ThreadedUDP to 1 in server.ini to revert back to how it is in Soldat 1.4.2.

It is pretty much ready now. The only things on the todo list is to create the full/patch Installers, pack the EXE, and record a new intro demo. I asked the beta testing team to thoroughly test my latest binary with all fixes in it, and two weeks later nobody has mentioned anything about it so at this point I must assume it is ready to roll. If it isn’t, it might be time to clean up the private beta team eh? Hurr hurr.

Eh, sorry, but this isn’t an April Fools joke. Disappointing, yeah.
